These three plant types can he combined to form beautiful displays. Perennials add color and structure to the garden and should form the basis of your planting scheme. Annuals are one-year wonders that offer instant color and form. Bulbs require relatively little effort and produce a remarkably good display, mainly in spring and summer, and they vary from tiny jewels to show-stopping giants.

You will spend a great deal of time choosing your plants, and planting them correctly maxi­mizes your chances of success.
