First, you will want to check that the fence you are using is in good enough condition to hold the weight of the climber you propose to grow on the framework you will create. Extra supports (such as netting) can also be put in place once the climber is established.
1 Screw in a vine eye using the shaft of a screwdriver as leverage. Attach these along the length of the fence at intervals.
2 Use galvanized wire, because it is resistant to rust and suitable for outdoor use. Take a length of wire, loop it through the eyes, and secure.
3 Using pliers, lighten the wire until it is taut; tighten the eyes along the length of the fence panel.
