Planting

Once the cutting has developed an independent root system, you can plant it into an individual pot—a 3!/2-in. pot is about the right size for one season, until the plant is growing strongly and can he planted out in its permanent position. However, very small cuttings that are planted directly into borders are easy to overlook or pull up by accident, so it can be worth tending your young plants’ for another year before planting them out.
Once the cutting is growing strongly, nip out the growing tip. This encourages the sideshoots to develop, giving the plant a more bushy appearance.
